Military Carrier Account Advisor
MilitaryFreight.com sources motor carriers and qualified drivers for Transportation Service Providers (TSPs) serving the U.S. Department of Defense and works with the Prime Vendor supporting Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) freight.
Position Overview
MilitaryFreight.com is seeking motivated professionals to serve as Military Carrier Account Advisors within our Carrier Sourcing Division. The Advisor is responsible for identifying motor carriers that are interested in moving military freight, developing relationships with those carriers, explaining our qualification and driver-readiness process, and helping qualified carriers become part of the MilitaryFreight.com network.
This is more than an outbound calling position. You are developing and managing a portfolio of motor carrier accounts. Your responsibility begins with identifying a potential carrier, but the objective is to develop that carrier into a qualified, ready, long-term member of our transportation network.
What You Will Do
Military Carrier Account Advisors proactively contact motor carriers throughout the United States to determine their interest and ability to move military and DLA-related freight. You will introduce carriers to MilitaryFreight.com, explain how our carrier sourcing network operates, learn about their equipment and capabilities, and guide interested carriers through our qualification process.
- Prospecting and contacting motor carriers nationwide.
- Speaking directly with carrier owners, executives, dispatchers, safety personnel, and operations managers.
- Introducing carriers to MilitaryFreight.com and explaining potential military freight opportunities.
- Explaining the role MilitaryFreight.com plays as a carrier sourcing and readiness resource for TSPs serving the Department of Defense.
- Explaining our work sourcing qualified capacity and verifying drivers in connection with DLA Prime Vendor freight.
- Determining a carrier's equipment types, fleet size, operating areas, capacity, and freight interests.
- Identifying carriers that may fit current or anticipated transportation needs.
- Guiding interested carriers through the MilitaryFreight.com enrollment and qualification process.
- Explaining driver identity verification, background screening, and continuous monitoring requirements.
- Following up with carriers that have started but not completed the qualification process.
- Maintaining communication with enrolled carrier accounts.
- Helping carriers keep their drivers and account information current.
- Developing long-term relationships with carrier partners.
- Maintaining accurate records of carrier conversations, status, capabilities, and follow-up activities.
- Building and managing your own portfolio of qualified carrier accounts.
Carrier Enrollment vs. Driver Qualification
MilitaryFreight.com does not require carriers to enter into a long-term contract or carrier subscription simply to participate in our carrier network. The security and qualification requirements are focused heavily on the drivers who will actually be entrusted with the freight.
Drivers participating through the MilitaryFreight.com network must complete the applicable vetting, identity verification, and background screening process. Approved participating drivers are also subject to continuous monitoring while remaining in our network.
A background check represents information available at a particular point in time. A driver's status can subsequently change. For that reason, MilitaryFreight.com treats driver security as an ongoing process rather than a one-time background check. Military Carrier Account Advisors must be able to clearly communicate this distinction to carriers.
Your Role With the Carrier
You are not simply calling a carrier and asking “Do you want military freight?” — you are beginning an account relationship. Once a carrier expresses interest, you become a point of contact who helps the company understand the process, complete the necessary steps, prepare its participating drivers, and maintain readiness within the MilitaryFreight.com network.
As your portfolio grows, you are building relationships with carriers that may have:
Your portfolio becomes part of the qualified transportation capacity MilitaryFreight.com can source for its transportation partners.
What This Position Is NOT
This position does not authorize an Advisor to promise a carrier specific freight, lanes, rates, volume, revenue, government contracts, or awards. Military Carrier Account Advisors do not award Department of Defense or DLA contracts.
Your responsibility is to source, develop, qualify, and manage carrier relationships so qualified carriers and drivers can be considered for applicable opportunities through the transportation organizations MilitaryFreight.com supports. Advisors must represent MilitaryFreight.com accurately and professionally at all times.
Prohibited Topics — Military Restrictions
The United States military prohibits MilitaryFreight.com from discussing the following items with a prospective carrier. Advisors must not raise these topics in any conversation, email, or communication with a carrier:
Rates
Do not discuss freight rates, pricing, or compensation amounts.
Names of Providers
Do not disclose the names of Transportation Service Providers (TSPs), the DLA Prime Vendor, or any government agency we support.
Guarantee of Loads
Do not promise, imply, or suggest any guarantee of freight, loads, lanes, volume, or contracts.
These restrictions exist to maintain the integrity of the military procurement process. Violating them is grounds for immediate removal from the program.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal Military Carrier Account Advisor is comfortable speaking with trucking companies and building business relationships over the telephone. Transportation experience is valuable, but the ability to communicate, follow up, learn the program, and develop relationships is equally important.
- Strong telephone communication skills.
- Confidence making outbound calls.
- Professional business communication skills.
- Ability to explain a qualification process clearly.
- Strong follow-up and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple carrier accounts simultaneously.
- Comfort speaking with business owners and transportation professionals.
- Ability to learn trucking terminology and transportation equipment types.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate account information.
- Persistence without using high-pressure sales tactics.
- Commitment to accurately representing MilitaryFreight.com and its programs.
Experience in trucking, freight brokerage, carrier sales, logistics, recruiting, account management, business development, transportation compliance, or military transportation is a plus.
How Success Is Measured
Success is not measured simply by how many telephone calls you make. We are building a qualified and dependable carrier network. Performance should therefore be measured by factors including:
Carrier Relationships Developed
How many legitimate carrier relationships are you building?
Qualified Carriers Added
How many interested carriers successfully progress through the process?
Qualified Drivers
Are participating drivers completing required verification and screening?
Account Readiness
Are your carrier accounts maintaining the information and driver readiness necessary to remain active within the network?
Follow-Up
Are prospective and existing accounts receiving consistent professional communication?
Carrier Capacity
Are you developing useful transportation capacity across equipment types and operating areas?
Account Retention
Are you building relationships that continue after initial enrollment?
